Invitation for Expression of Interest for Development of Tourism Node at Kai Tak (29.09.2015 – 08.12.2015)

The Tourism Node, on a 5.93 hectare site, is a major component of the Kai Tak Fantasy project which encompasses a visionary plan to develop the former runway tip and its adjoining areas into a world-class tourism, entertainment and leisure hub. It will comprise commercial/office/hotel uses and entertainment and leisure facilities with a total maximum gross floor area of about 230,000 square metres.

To enable early implementation of the Kai Tak Fantasy project, the Energizing Kowloon East Office (EKEO) of the Development Bureau invited submissions of expression of interest for the development of the Tourism Node at Kai Tak during the period from 29 September 2015 to 8 December 2015. A briefing session for the EOI was held on 26 October 2015 at our office.

With reference to the winning scheme together with the good ideas and elements of shortlisted entries of the Competition, two detailed planning and engineering studies are being undertaken by the Government to further develop the Kai Tak Fantasy project.

Planning and Urban Design Review for Developments at Kai Tak Runway Tip – Feasibility Study was commenced in December 2015 while “Planning and Engineering Study on Kwun Tong Action Area – Feasibility Study” was commenced in March 2016.
